Understanding the complex interactions between body systems is what separates functional nutrition from general nutrition advice. If the body is unable to breakdown, absorb, and/or transport nutrients and eliminate waste properly, no eating plan will achieve meaningful results. Everyone's physiology is unique: functional nutrition seeks deeper understanding of your personal health status to begin designing plans that address your specific issues and goals.

The TriRoots Approach

"Backing it up" to Balance

By the time we experience the physical ramifications of imbalance, we may actually be several degrees of separation from the origin of the cascade.  A root cause approach effectively "backs it up" to locate the most primary source of the issue along with the most biological starting point of the cascade and starts clearing there, helping to restore the body's optimal "soil" so that it can begin nurturing itself once again. A detailed health history and thorough holistic assessment is an essential part of "digging deeper" in order to address any lingering habits or beliefs that may be contributing to a perpetual cascade or series of cascades in the body.

Mindfulness is more than just positive affirmations: it's a practice of self-observation without judgement. Through the brain's ability to form and strengthen new neural pathways, consistent mindfulness and brain-training exercises can gradually reshape habitual thought patterns, improve resilience, and support lasting well-being. These principles are accessible to everyone.

Much of our daily behavior is influenced by the "background tapes" running quietly in our minds beneath our awareness. Replacing limiting tapes with more empowering ones is an important part of well-being. Through consistent practice coupled with new neural pathways, these tapes can be rewritten, encouraging greater confidence, resilience and balance.
